"The Kids Are Alright" and other songs for your pediatric career

What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about your training and pediatric career thus far? We asked, you answered. Some definites, some maybes. You decide. Here's your pediatric playlist:

  • "Time of Your Life" (Green Day)
  • "Call Me" (Blondie)
  • "Takin' Care of Business" (Bachman Turner Overdrive)
  • "Welcome to the Jungle" (Guns N' Roses)
  • "Baby Stop Crying" (Bob Dylan)
  • "Teach Your Children" (Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young)
  • "Stayin' Alive" (Bee Gees)
  • "Help" (The Beatles)
  • "The Kids Are Alright" (The Who)
  • "Wash your Hands" (The Wiggles)
  • "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (Nirvana)
  • "Who Needs Sleep?" (The Barenaked Ladies)

I also heard that one NYC physician decided to discuss this idea of a medical career playlist with her family medicine residents on their narrative medicine rounds.
